Two Sisters

Two Sisters

Named for his daughters, ‘Two Sisters’ is the wine label of Adam Peren who has a small, steep, north-facing vineyard overlooking the Lowburn Valley in Central Otago New Zealand. 6.5 ha are planted to Riesling and Pinot Noir, established in 1999, with more Pinot Noir added in 2001, and Pinot Gris in 2004. The first vintage released was 2006.

Adam’s aim is to produce wines that reflect the site and the growing maturity emanating from Central Otago as a winemaking region. Adam has plenty of experience in the Central Otago wine industry, being a founding director of Peregrine, but sold out "to enjoy the single vineyard challenge”.

The vineyard is tended by contract viticulturists and the wines are also made under contract. Adam believes many Central Otago wines are released too early, and that they benefit from some time in bottle. This guides his decision to hold onto the wines to allow them to show more of their character and better integration.
